Freshman Year to Varsity — What This Journey Has Taught Me

When I think back on the last couple years, I’m honestly just grateful. As a freshman, I was excited just to be on the field and learn what high school baseball really demands—how fast the game moves, how much preparation matters, and how important it is to be a great teammate.

Then as a sophomore, getting the chance to compete at the varsity level was a whole new experience. The pace was different. The expectations were higher. Every rep mattered. I learned quickly that talent is only part of it—consistency, focus, and how you respond when things don’t go your way are what separate players.

I’m humbled by the accolades I received—things like being recognized for my offense and the work I put in. I’m thankful for every coach who trusted me, every teammate who pushed me, and every moment that helped me grow. But more than any award, what I remember most is the year of learning.

The Most Memorable Part: The Moments With My Teammates

The word that keeps coming to mind is moments.
Not just the big plays or the highlights—but the moments in between:

The conversations after a tough loss

The energy in the dugout when we were fighting back

The laughs, the encouragement, and the way we stayed connected as a team

The reflection after wins—remembering what we did right and what we still needed to improve

Those moments taught me what it means to be part of something bigger than myself. They reminded me that baseball is a team game, and the relationships you build can be just as important as the results.

Looking Ahead: Junior Year at Roosevelt

Now I’m looking forward to what the future holds as I step into my junior year playing varsity for the Eleanor Roosevelt Mustangs.

My mindset is simple:

• Keep working.
• Earn everything.
• Stay coachable.
• Learn from every rep.
• Be a great teammate.
• Bring energy and consistency.
• Stay grateful.
• Never take opportunities for granted.
• Trust the Process

I’m excited for the opportunities that may become available, and I’m committed to growing—on the field, in the classroom, and as a person.
